My experience last night was apparently better than yours. I was able to connect pretty quickly and the quality of phone call I made was better than my cell phone. The triggers from SL were great and I definitely see how cool it would be fully integrated. My friend almost freaked when I told her I was calling her from within Second Life! That alone was worth the price of admission for me. As for Skype…I have had good Skype and I have had bad Skype.

My experience was tainted by the fact that it didn't work at all..
Not to nitpick, but your call came no more from Second Life than a call from Skype would have. They're both external programs that sit in the background.The only difference with Vivox is that it has some "phone booths" in Second Life. You could do the same with skype if you really wanted to. It's not a revolution, it's a half assed service packaged in a novel way.
If they want to beat Skype for me, it's going to have to match Skpe feature for feature and then give me that little bit more. Oh yeah, and hire a new UI designer.
