This explains quite well the situation. I hope more SL citizens will really understanding that. Every average developer developer/geek should already have understood the problem just after asking the question "where is the data rendered?" It is so simple to see it. If it wasnt copybot, it would be some other piece of code that would do the job. It is better to know the truth, rather than to be happy with closed to the problems eyes. SL citizens, dont worry, SL has just got a bit of RL feel.

The issue is what real protections you can expect in Second Life. Nothing will prevent copying. You can only react to it after the fact. Oh, bullshit. When you want to make sure YOUR crown jewels -- scripts which reflect YOUR intellectual worth, creativity, labour time -- aren't copyable -- you take pains to make them not-copyable. Prim hair and shoes are far less important to you, so you don't bother. Too much recording of HTML, you say! See my rebuttals of your irresponsible theory at Second Campus. You do suck, and continue to suck, and the most sucky part ofy it is this unsubstantiated and untenable argument that anyone who criticizes your destructive antics in SL is somehow a tinfoil hat wearing dummie not understanding the basics. We all get it. The streams talk, and you can copy them. But...people didn't. They tried to make a world. You disrupted it DELIBERATELY and MALICIOUSLY in one day, as the transcript faithfully records.

If there is nothing can prevent copying then...don't sell the game a a place with IP rights.

They tried to make money with promises for service they can't deliver. All the people currently unhappy from CopyBot's are actually unhappy because of LL's unhold promises - protected IP in a digital world - bullshit!

Could you explain who DID create CopyBot? Details, details.
  • Baba · 3 years ago

    It was the bolsheviks... :(

Copybot was created as a debugging tool by the development team. All other details that you need to know are located on the project website.

I misread Miss K's: "> Nothing will prevent copying Amen" As "> Nothing will prevent copying Amen Breaks" I used to be a squeaky-clean beatmeister, but pilfering grimey soul records cleansed me into the purgatory of the audio O-hole. Oh, how I miss my memories. Once I forget them, I shall miss them no more. BTW, Baba, nice font you're using here, most blogs I see use Arial, Verdana, or Georgia! It makes us all feel like robots. Good ones, in the Kraftwerk vein. Argrhhhhhh too much soy milk for me. *puts down the lecithin*

Great open-source project there, champ *cough*. There is no detail, provided anywhere, about who made CopyBot? So...who did?

You have to be a level 27 tekkie to figure out where the old libsecondlife repository is, and how to read through the svn history to get the CopyBot creator. But the original creator is someone you've never heard of so it wouldn't do much good even then.
